ALPHATECH's License Plate Reader is field proven in a large installation at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona. Our system operates 24 hours a day / 7 days a week handling 15,000 parking spaces and 40,000 transactions daily at Sky Harbor International Airport (SHIA). It has been running without interruption since November, 1999. SHIA is the first and largest facility in the U.S. that has a fully functioning and operational LPR solution in place. 

At each of the five main parking facilities at SHIA, ALPHATECH's License Plate Reader has been tested by independent consultants for performance, and the system has met or surpassed all performance requirements set by SHIA. It has been estimated that over 100,000 images were verified for accuracy during this testing.

High Quality Image Capture and Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

ALPHATECH has tested its cameras and image processing systems to optimize performance under conditions of glare, poor lighting, dirt and other difficult conditions.

Exception Handling

ALPHATECH’s License Plate Reader is engineered to handle all transactions gracefully, including towed vehicles, pass cards, and exception transactions in which license plate and/or ticket information is incomplete. The design assures maximum financial control with minimum effort. 

Supervisory Review

ALPHATECH’s License Plate Reader gives you the option of reviewing exception transactions (such as unreadable or missing license plate) at a supervisory station or at the cashier station. It produces reports so management can review handling of exception transactions. These features combine superior financial control with maximum operational flexibility. 

"COTS" (Commercial Off The Shelf) Equipment

ALPHATECH's License Plate Reader uses COTS hardware components such as cameras, computer hardware. Wherever possible, low level software components are standard COTS products, such as Oracle databases, and Linux or Windows NT operating systems. ALPHATECH uses customer software and hardware only where they deliver a clear advantage. COTS components help make ALPHATECH LPR cost effective, scalable, and easy to maintain and to upgrade. 

Fully integrated with Scheidt & Bachmann Parking Equipment

ALPHATECH’s LPR software is fully integrated with Scheidt & Bachmann parking access equipment (PAE). The integrated LPR-PAE systems takes maximum advantage of combined license plate and ticket information to compute correct fees. This assists in detecting errors and fee avoidance behavior by employees or patrons.
